Opening: September 20, 6-9 pm
Exhibition Dates: September 20 – November 1
It was not until after photographer Lauren Henkin had undergone surgery to remove slow-growing benign tumors that she began to identify connections between her photographic inclinations and her health issues. Growth, at The Gallery at Vivid Solutions, is the collection of landscape photographs that resulted from this point of connection. Henkin photographs discovered disruptions to the urban landscape made by the natural world, scenes that she sees as both invasive and reclaiming. Henkin is an educator, reviewer, writer and active member in the photographic community. Her work is widely collected by private collectors as well as institutions such as Southeast Museum of Photography, Yale University and Dartmouth College. Her work has been published in numerous journals on photography and the book arts and she is a Px3 multi-cateogry winner and Oregon Regional Arts & Culture Council grant winner, with other award nominations. Additionally, she is the founder of Vela Noche Press, a publisher of fine art editions and books.
