Unsung Jazz by Antoine Sanfuentes brings together the photographer’s ongoing project of documenting the local jazz performers who have had a substantial impact on jazz in Washington, DC but are relatively unknown outside the area. The opening reception for this exhibition, which will be a joint event with the opening of Figures in Jazz by John K. Lawson at Honfleur Gallery, will take place Friday April 26, 2013 from 6‐8 p.m. A jazz performance by the Nasar Abadey Trio will start at 8 p.m.
Also happening from 6-9 p.m. on April 26 two doors from the galleries at 1231 Good Hope Rd. SE: Poulet et Gaufres (Chicken & Waffles, y’all!) pop-up restaurant, presented by NURISH: The Center for a Creative Culinary Economy. Tickets are $14 with an alcoholic beverage, $10 for food only. There will be two additional jazz performances at Honfleur Gallery during the course of the exhibitions. The Bobby Muncy Trio will play on Thursday May 16 from 7-9 p.m. On Thursday June 6, the Nasar Abadey Quartet will play from 7-9 p.m. Twins Jazz is a partner for these events.
